ABOUT THE FSA ID--
Before you fill out the FAFSA, it's a good idea to create an FSA ID for both the student and parent. Otherwise, you get almost done with the FAFSA, and then have to pause to create the FSA IDs.
(...Yup. It's crazy making...)
The FSA ID is how you electronically sign the FAFSA.
Similar to a bank PIN number, the FSA ID should be kept confidential.
It's only used once a year, but it's a portal to sensitive information.
USING THE FSA ID
A student will use his/her FSA ID each year when they complete the FAFSA.
As long as a student is considered a dependent, the parent uses the parent FSA ID to "sign" the FAFSA. A parent can use the same FSA ID to sign the FAFSA for each of their dependent students over time.
